I just have to tell you what I took from your presentation on Saturday. First, I’m the one who does all my “work” before I allow myself to play. From now on when it comes to the weekend, I’m going to play first. Also, I relax by making jewelry. And since I like to have things fairly picked up around the house I put all my bins and bags of beads etc away after I use it. Yesterday I went home, got out my large card table, arranged all my jewelry goodies on the top and I’m leaving it up as long as I want. What do you think of that? I’m taking a walk on the wild side!

I read Permission to Nap shortly after my dear father lost his 10-month battle with stomach cancer. My dad's illness was exhausting for me since I heavily involved in his care. What a gift this book was in the aftermath of this emotionally draining time! Not only did Jill Murphy Long show me how to nurture myself for a change, but to do it in grand style. I highly recommend her book with just one caution. You'll need extra time to read it, but it will be time well spent. Your spirit will be restored after you nap, meditate, drink some tea, and treat yourself to an aromatic bath.

Your book," Permission To Play", was a perfect gift for my five high school girlfriends. We have gotten together every year since 1969. Maybe we need "Nap" now that we are nearing 60? Or blow out all the stops with "Party" ????

While I live in a town that plays a lot and hard, I still feel guilty getting out the door some days. After reading Permission to Play (and tagging 25+ pages) I have no excuse not to play. I even pulled out my blank sketch pad that I bought on a whim last year with the intention to sketch daily. Now, finally, I am acting on that whim thanks to my new-granted permission. Thank you for a wonderful book. I have to pick up Permission to Nap, too--a luxurious nap sounds wonderful.

My favorite store in the world, EsScentuals, in Fort Collins, just told me that my favorite author has a second book coming out in the next month and I am thrilled! Cannot wait to read Permission to Play. I hope that I can meet you in person the next time you sign at Meg's store and tell you how much your first book, Permission to Nap has changed my life. I am a relaxed, happy woman now who plans special little moments in every day for myself and as you can tell, I thoroughly enjoy it. Thanks for the chapter on creating a nap sanctuary--that old guest room never got much use anyhow!

Although most of us southerns know how to slow down, it seems as if even we are starting to pick up the pace of life. Maybe your book will get America to stop once and awhile. I wanted to thank you for your gracious book--not only is it beautiful to page through while gearing down for a nap, I love the artwork you selected, but your prose is very relaxing. My husband has been reading your book too and wants you to write one for men. Best of luck with your other books. Can't wait until the next one.

Wow-what a great book! I need these words of advice so desperately now in my life. As a new mother, I felt guilty when I napped with my newborn, but after receiving your book at my baby shower, I don't anymore--I finally read all of it four months later. I recognize that I need the rest as much as my baby. Thank you for setting the record straight for me and my daughter. You have touched the future. My daughter will be a napper thanks to you.

I can even remember your seat and row, as I think back. | I never knew napping could be so self-pampering. Because of "Permission to Nap," I now take time for myself every afternoon to relax and recover from chasing my toddler son. When he naps, I nap. And when we both wake up, we are bounding with newfound energy, ready for some serious play. Thank you Jill. Just reading your book is indulgent. I love it! |
